Milk thistle seeds come from the aloe plant that grows naturally in most of Europe. Along with other types of thistle, milk thistle is part of the natural diet of goldfinches and is one of their favorite seeds. Besides being part of their diet, milk thistle properties make it especially recommended for both the goldfinch as wild canaries and other birds of similar power.
Milk thistle seeds are rich in flavonoids which are natural pigments that protect plants but have beneficial for animals and in this case for birds properties.

Properties of milk thistle:

Antioxidant that protect cells from damage caused by free radicals that tend to oxidize cellular structures.
 Anticancer properties.
Improve blood circulation and heart function.

Source of fatty acids are an important source of energy.

In canaries and goldfinches the use of milk thistle stimulates appetite, helps restore and maintain intestinal balance and is a natural protector of liver when administered dyes to accentuate the red tones of the plumage.
